The novel i'm reading in my lit circle group is called 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'.
I believe my novel is a "coming of age" story because the book is told from the first person view of a freshman boy growing up in high school. He writes in this journal about how he feels and what he goes through in high school. For example, he writes about meeting new people, crushes, drugs, sex, partying, family and of course school. Which of course all of us high school students are dealing with now today in our lives. Charlie is introduced to the world of growing up and learning how to survive in high school.

Hi Daphne Jayne,
ReplyDeleteSo...what do you think of Charlie's story? Do you think it's a realistic account of some of the issues and anxieties of coming of age for teens today? Did you and your group basically give the novel a "thumbs up" or a "thumbs down"?

I think Charlie's story is a very honest and emotional story because he really shows me as the reader his feelings, thoughts, and how he actually deals with all these obstacles in high school. And by this he is learning to grow up and know the things that will help him succeced in the future.
ReplyDeleteHis ideas and experiences are realistic and can related to all teens today. As i said before he goes through sex, drugs, school, family, peer pressure, partying and more. The things that all teens are going through right now in our lives that will turn into life lessons.
Overall i give this novel a thumbs up ! :)
