Angry Letter- Rough Draft

Dear Louis Vuiton,

From tiny keychains to gorgeous handbags your company has made a great impact of style throughout the world. Hawaii is quite lucky to have this high class store located in Oahu. Tourist from all over the world come here for paradise but of course they come here for shopping. Ala Moana is one of the popular attractions for tourist to shop because the mall provides the best stores for their outragious money spending.

However I am concern about a certain incident about me and my mother. This past year my mother and I walked into your store with no the most dressiest clothes because for us it was just shopping. We walked around your store thinking we would get some help or to at least be greeted, but the staff seem to have no respect to their customers. When my mother was interested about this one bag, she needed help to get it down. Instead of doing their job of considering my mother's interest in this bag, they completely ignored her to help tourist that came after us. My mother and I were surprised by the attitude the employees gave off. So in the end, we walked out of the store with Louis Vuitton holding a bad reputation in our heads.

So I would please ask that you remind your employees the basics of how to treat people whether they're from another country or from local residents. Everyone should have the oppurnity of shopping around this mall and walking out of every store on a good note. I believe that everyone should be treated equally because this store is not only for the high-class.

Thank you for taking the time to read about my concerns and situation.

Aloha,
Daphne-Jayne Corrales

Angry Letter Idea

I have been in a situation where my mom and I felt discriminated in Louis Vuitton. We went into the store one day not wearing anything dressy clothes, just casual attire; it was just shopping. And when my mom asked for help about this one bag, the workers didn't bother to help my mom and ignored her leaving my mom hurt and confused.
Everybody is aware that this popular brand is very high class and expensive. But that doesn't mean that ONLY rich people are allowed to be treated with respect in that store. That store is opened up to everybody who shops there no matter what race or how you look.

Pro/Con Rough Draft

Raves and Clubbing
Rough Draft

As teens grow through life and take their own paths of choices, teens basically just want to have fun and live their teenage life to the fullest. Aside from school, sports and family, all teens love to hang out with their friends and “let loose”. That’s when raves and clubs come into play. These sites are one of the top hang out spots on late friday nights or weekends. This is where teens make the wrong decisions at ravse and clubs because the atmosphere held there.

If its either stress from school or problems with family, teens believe that raves and clubs are the best places to go to get their negative minds off of these things. Drugs and drinking lingers throughout the place coping whatever reasoning the teens are there for especially with their friends and peer pressure.
Because there are always drugs and drinking at raves and clubs, there are much causes to why this is a bad choice for teens. Pills such ecstasy, drugs like meth and pot, and strong drinking causes the mind of every teen who sets contact with it to go blank. Drinking and driving causing death, raping, suicide and other mind killing situations takes place when these things are exposed.

“Peace, love, unity, and respect” is the saying that brings the teens back to raves and clubs every single time. Teens meet new people and just being there is happy for everybody because raves and clubs is where teens get together and have fun.
Different various kinds of teens come through the doors of raves and clubs no matter what. There are teens from every sexuality and genders which causes everyone to mingle and meet new people to have fun with. With roaring techno music, teens dance in a sexual manner because its “sexy”. Because the site is full of body heat, teens plan to wear less clothing to keep cool and to also attract guys to their body. Hardly knowing a person in just one night and being attracted to them cause teens to get emotional about a person which leads to one night stands, rapes, date rapes and pregnancy; things that could live with a teen for life.

I believe that its very important to have fun in your teenage years. But acting responsibly and making wise choices is where the actual fun is.

Revised Thesis, Con & Pros

Thesis:
"Teens make wrong decisions at raves and clubs because the atmosphere held there."

Con:
Teens believe that going to raves and clubs help get all their negative thoughts out of their minds because there are drugs and drinking that also believe helps cope their stress and make them feel good along with thier friends. Also going to raves strengths the "unity and peace" among teens making them meet new people and fun dancing.

Pro One:
There are always drugs and drinking at all raves and clubs. This causes them to get high which leads them to do inappropriate things such as rape, drinking and driving, suicide, and other mind killing situations. Also since these events last all night and early mornings drinking and taking drugs are constant.

Pro Two:
Raves and clubs are full of all kinds of teens from both males and females from all kinds of sexuality. Because the atmosphere is dark and very hot from body heat, teens decide to wear less clothing when dancing. This is much cool for them and also dancing in a sexual matter allows them to meet new people. This causes date rapes, sex (one night stands), and even pregnancy.

College Essay- Rough Draft

Columbia University and University of Irvine , California-
Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how your world has shaped your dreams and aspirations..

From the mighty Great Walls of China to that snap shot of the Effiel Tower, and from the ringing echos through the Grand Canyon to that podium of where lady Liberty stands today , my mind lingers about how big this world actually is but come to realize that i live my own life in my particular world.
An unique setting like no other of palm trees swaying and waves washing up on sandy beaches, I call this “little rock” my home. I have been through many by living my life in Hawaii. From diverse cultures, unalike weather and education to my beloved friends and family, life values and respected religion, I’ve gain countless life experiences that i hold in my heart forever .
This state flows with many colors of skin from all over the world. I have built all kinds of relationships with these people and learned different ways of life because of how we all grew up. We take part in eachother’s nationalites by the foods we eat, the accents we mimic, and to the style of one another. We are closer than we seem because of how the “aloha spirit” takes action in our hearts.
My world revolves around school because i take my education very seriously no matter how it seems. I know that i won’t be in school for a long time because eventually in life we all learn to grow up and move on in life. Spending my years in school has been a remarkable chapter in my book. From my fellow classmates to massive events and activites, I choose to take the path of my school years where there are tons of memories and no regrets.
I am so very grateful to have a family to come home to every day and night. We all develop life values together that we all need to learn to become healthy and happy people as we grow up.
As the pages of my life keeps flipping, I am aware of what kind of person I have become through the creation of being in my world today. Collecting of what has been given to me and what i have earned, I take control of what i want to be in this world and the spot i hold in it. Because of the life in Hawaii, i have been given ideas of my interest are since I have been through so much. I learned to express to myself in many various ways and by the compassion of helping anybody who is in need of love and care. I wish to show the world my practice of being the person i am today and will maybe influence the minds of other people.
I believe that no matter how big or small your world may seem the whole world itself is still together as one today. I believe that no matter where you may come from or how you may look, everybody should have their chance to shine on this Earth.

Journal #9

The novel i'm reading in my lit circle group is called 'The Perks of Being a Wallflower'.
I believe my novel is a "coming of age" story because the book is told from the first person view of a freshman boy growing up in high school. He writes in this journal about how he feels and what he goes through in high school. For example, he writes about meeting new people, crushes, drugs, sex, partying, family and of course school. Which of course all of us high school students are dealing with now today in our lives. Charlie is introduced to the world of growing up and learning how to survive in high school.

Journal #8

The process of applying and getting into the college of my desire will be very tough and challenging. The reason for this is because i would like to make a big impression on the schools im applying to and another reason is because it will be very competitive earning your slot enrolling into a college with MANY other students across the US and even maybe world to attend that same college. From scholarships to college applications, i believe everything else will reflect on my college essay. Besides all the money and grades, i will get my chance to express my feelings, thoughts, and dreams of attending the school of my desire to the college committes.
I am not totally sure of what is suppose to be in my essay, but i plan to talk to Mrs. Mau when i get closer to my senior year in the college and career center. But i'm thinking that in my essay i will include my past experiences in high school or i could include my passions even before high school. Also i could introduce myself and what kind of student i am inside and outside of school. For example my GPA and my hobbies/intrests. And lastly i should explain what i kind of person i will be when i walk out of their university to show them that i worked hard being on their campus for at least 4 years.
Like i said before i dream of attending college in the mainland to experience how life is like not being on a "rock". California would be nice :)

Coming of Age (Rough Draft)

Coming of Age
By Daphne-Jayne Corrales

I know that there are always times in life where everybody has their moments when they feel that they have took that next step in becoming a grown man or woman. From boys doing something dangerous becomes a man to a girl having that special sweet sixteen party, everybody learns that growing up is part of life and what we need to go through.
To be honest, thinking of my coming of age was really difficult for me to think of. I could write this essay about when I wore that white dress in my church receiving my 1st communion or even my 6th grade graduation to middle school. But I feel that those were the days when things were just getting started. I know that those things were very important because it basically helped me go through who I am today, but I feel that it’s not that big elevation I say is my coming of age because I am a growing teen as of this moment and not a little girl anymore.
My world has been revolved around school ever since I was a little 5 year-old. As those years in grade and middle school, I remember always thinking to myself, “I wonder what high school will be like?” Many questions popped into my head back in those days. It was elementary times riding in the car with my mom, I would say “Mommy, I don’t want to go to high school. It’s too big.” And she would say, “When you go to high school, you won’t think it’s big because you will be too grown up to notice it.” I know that at the time I was still small and I wouldn’t listen as much, so I was still scared.
Entering middle school few years after I started maturing a little bit and grew up knowing what skills are needing to succeed in high school like discipline, responsibility, honesty, just to name a few. I also learned about peer education such as drugs, sex and violence and how to be safe and healthy. I knew that all of these things will be a big key to having the best 4 years of high school coming around the corner of 8th grade, but I didn’t realize how challenging it will be.
And finally, it was time to hang with the big dogs. My high school years are here. When I thought of the words ‘High School’, I thought of the fear of messing up. I was so nervous but I always thought to myself that everything was going to be alright if I made the right choices and being happy.
Walking the halls of Moanalua High School home of the Na Menehune as a freshman, made me feel so proud to be representing a school where I will be going to for the next 4 important years in my life. Now, I am full grown enough to know better and to make my own decisions, there was nobody there to hold my hand anymore to class and tell me to sit in the corner for a time out. This was the time where none of those things are necessary anymore. Being independent makes me a better person now because I am the one that will be walking out of this high school and living the real world of an adult. I take education in high school seriously because my future is too precious for me to throw it all away.
I still remember those days when my mom told me, “When you go to high school, you won’t think it’s big because you will be too grown up to notice it”. That was years ago. And now she’s telling me, “Now you’re in high school, live every single day in it as if there are no regrets for these fours years are most memorable and important.”

My Writing Experiences :)

Writing. One of my greatest passions in my life.
I actually have been interested in writing ever since i was a little girl. Always carrying a little notebook with me; from make-believe stories to short poems and even to writing about how my day went and how i felt at that time was an everyday thing for me.
As the years went by my writing grew stronger and stronger because i was always challenged every grade i entered, but at the same time i learned more and more. My ABC's to spelling. Spelling to vocabulary. Vocabulary to essays. Essays to reports. And reports to impromptus. I express my ideas and how powerful i could strike it all into writing on a lined piece of paper. Writing is very easy but yet so challenging depending how strong you want to be.
Since i have been writing basically my whole life, i wish to apply and contribute my passion for writing when i grow up. This pass summer, i took an online course called 'Journalistic Writing'. In this course i was introduced to the world of journalistic writing (of course) where i was introduced to the skills of news reporting, interviewing and newspaper/radio/news casting writing skills just to name a few. I actually did pretty good in this course getting a final grade of an 'A' :)
My goal in writing to just improve more and more every time i write an essay, post a blog, or even a simple everyday journal. I wish my writing the best as it could be for everyone to be inspired in writing because i feel writing is a very important and betters your confidence in life.
